What We Do

Supporting the Local Community

Oasis Social Ministry offers a variety of services to the homeless and marginalized communities in Portsmouth, Chesapeake, and Suffolk. It is through these services that we are able to realize our mission of alleviating food insecurity and hunger in our local area.

Registering as a Client

All individuals must register as a client at our main office. Registration is available Mon/Wed/Friday 10am to 1pm at 800 A Williamsburg Ave, Portsmouth, VA 23704.

Community Soup Kitchen

For individuals experiencing homelessness or food insecurity, we offer a daily community soup kitchen that is available for breakfast and lunch. Hunger doesn’t go on vacation so neither do we—our soup kitchen is available 365 days of the year. Meal Schedule

Community Food Pantry

The Oasis Community Food Pantry is now ‘client choice’. Our food pantry is stocked with a variety of nutritious and healthy foods designed to meet your health needs. Unlike most food pantries, we put the power of choice in your hands, allowing you to decide for yourself what you and your family need. The ability to choose reduces food waste and makes it easy to meet any medical, allergen, and nutritional requirements. Mon/Wed/Fri- 10am to 1pm

Thrifty Boutique

Attached to our food pantry, we also offer clients clothing options at our thrifty boutique. These clothing options come in a range of sizes and cover all of your necessities. Clients are able to create outfits head to toe, including pants, socks, shoes, undergarments, shirts, and more. Visit Our Thrifty Boutique Mon/Wed/Fri 10am-1pm

Homeless Essentials

In addition to our clothing and food options, we also have a range of essentials that are necessary for individuals experiencing homelessness. Such essentials include hygiene kits for homeless individuals with toothbrushes, soap, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and more. Pickup Hygiene Essentials Monday through Friday 8am to 1:30pm

Other Programs

In addition to our main services, Oasis Social Ministry offers a number of programs. An example of this includes our senior grocery delivery programs. By partnering with the CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program) Oasis is able to meet the nutritional needs of homebound seniors 60 years and older. For information regarding other programs we offer, please reach out to a member of our staff. Contact Us: executivedirector@oasissocialministry.org
